Charity Bowl

Last Sunday, March 28th the Lynn, Salem, Peabody and Beverly Police/Fire Depts took advantage of some nice weather as they achieved grid iron glory in the name of Charity. There were 4 flag football games on the day at the impressive Manning stadium in Lynn and in the first game of the day the Salem police took on the Beverly police, the game went back and forth as both teams were playing in the 'Charity bowl" for the first time but it was the Salem police that would come out on top as they secured the victory 14-12 over their counter parts from across the bridge.

The second game was introduced by Ex Patriots player Roland James (played from 1980-1990) as the Lynn Fire took on the Peabody fire dept on their home turf for the second year in a row and for the second year in a row the out come of the game was the same as the Lynn Fire Dept shut out Peabody 20-0. The third game of the day saw the Beverly Fire take on the Salem Fire dept with Beverly trying to redeem its earlier loss by the police dept, but the Salem Fire team was too strong as they won a close game 12-6. The final game of the day was the much anticipated Lynn Police V's Pebaody Police, last years contest went into over time with the Lynn police coming out on top. This year Peabody scored on the last play of the game but it was not enough as the Lynn Police took the game 22-12 for back to back titles.

This years "Charity Bowl" was the best one to date as there were over 300 fans in attendance on the day and the games raised over $4000 for the Make a Wish charity of MA and RI. Some of the games will be aired on local channels 13 and 15 in Lynn and Peabody in the next few weeks.

We would like to give a special thanks to all the people involved in the "Charity Bowl" that helped make the event a truely successful one. Thank you to Eric Ricci (Peabody Police), Dan Dean (Peabody Fire), Tim Donovan (Lynn Police), Matt Reddy (Lynn Fire), Jeff Sirios (Beverly Fire), Mike Bucci (Beverly Police), Frank DeFranco (Salem Fire) and Eric Connolly (Salem Police) for organizing their teams.
