Granite Bowl Flag Football Tournament

The NSFFL took a 9-11 division all-star team to take part in the Granite Bowl at SNHU. The team included Spencer Persson, Devon Allen, Cameron Loizides, Nick LePore, Caesar Lopez, Jordan and Tyrese Joseph. The NSFFL is still looking for ALL-STAR players for the NFL Regional tournament this fall and so far from scrimmages and tournaments the league has selected 4 players to represent the league they are Devon Allen (Peabody), Spencer Persson (Peabody) and Henny Vlaun (Salem) Jake Gustin (Peabody).

The All-stars had a tough start to the day as they drew Red Storm from Pelham, NH in the first game. The all-stars came out firing and scored first but the well coached Red Storm answered back quickly. The game went back and forth with not many stops on Defense and at the end of regulation the Red Storm took the victory 26-19. Persson and Allen combined for the Peabody points, with Allen intercepting the ball once and Jordan intercepted 2 extra point conversions by the Red Storm.

In the second game the All-stars played another team from Pelham but this time it was the NHFFL Bills. The All-stars defense stepped up a notch with 4 interceptions from Allen, Lopez and Loizides and and shut out the Bills 27-0. Scoring came from Persson, Allen, Joseph and Lopez. In the final round robin game the All-stars faced the North Kingstown Thunder Birds from RI. At half time the Thunderbirds were leading the game 13-12, but with TD's from Allen X2, Persson and 2 interceptions returned for TD's by LePore and Cameron the All-stars won the game 33-13.

In the Play-offs the All-stars received the #2 ranking and faced the Bills again, this time the Bills were stronger on defense as they kept the score 0-0 at the half. In the second half the All-stars played with a little more energy as they scored twice from a Jordan pass to LePore and another interception returned for a TD by Allen to win 14-0. The Championship game saw the All-stars face the Red Storm again and like the first game the All-stars scored first with a Jordan pass to Allen for a TD, Loizides converted the extra point but that would be the only scoring the All-stars would do as the Red Storm ran away with the game 34-7, the only other highlight was another Allen Interception.

The All-stars played well all day and QB Jordan received MVP Honors for his several TD passes and leadership, the team also received runners up medals.

The team will be holding more "Try-outs" over the summer through scrimmages and tournaments. Thank you to everyone that made the trip north and we are looking forward to going back next year to do it all again.
