NSFFL competes at Team X National Tournament May 8th.

The NSFFL sent 4 teams to compete in the Team X tournament in PA this past May 8th. The league entered the NSFFL Patriots into the 9-11 division, the Lynn Bengals into the U14 division, the NSFFL All-stars into the 15-17 division and the girls into the 12-16 girls division.
The teams traveled down to PA together in a 55 seater coach and stayed over at a local Quakertown Best Western hotel. The morning of the tournament the 9-11 Patriots were played first as they faced the Virgina Extreme, the Patriots lost a close game 21-18 to start the day. The Patriots then went on to shut out the Leavittown Bucks 21-0, after the round robin games the Patriots faced the CNY team from Syracuse, NY and defeated them 36-6 to move into the semi-finals against the Virgina Extreme, the game was very close again but the Patriots came out on top 14-13 to head into the Championship game. In the final game the Patriots played great but again narrowly lost out by 1 TD 21-14 to take second place out of 9 teams in the age bracket.

The Bengals from Lynn sent 9 players to compete in the 8 team tournament. In their first game they defeated North Penn flag 26-6 before going on to beat the Leavittown Bucks 26-14 to take second place heading into the playoffs. The team had a bye first round and then played the other North Penn flag team and defeated them 15-14 to head to the Championship game, where they beat out the NJ Panthers 26-12 to take home the title.

All-star Girls from Peabody, Lynn and Revere got together to enter the 4 team girls bracket and had a rough start as they lost to the NP Ravens 28-6, but the girls pulled it together and defeated the NP Flag team 21-6, before moving into the playoffs to face the Jets of Leavittown, PA. The girls won the game 18-7 to head into the Championship game and face the NP Ravens for the second time, the game was much closer the second time around and the North Shore girls almost pulled it off as they just lost out 12-6 to finish in second place.

In the older 15-17 group the league took all-stars from past and present to compete, in their first game they lost out 14-6 to the eventual tournament winners from the LBFFA league, who also won the Gillette tournament last summer. In their second game the 6 man team came together and defeated the CNY Cobras from NY 32-6 before going on to beat the Black Shirts from PA 27-12 to reach the semi-finals. In the semi-finals the team got knocked out by the same NP FLAG team that knocked them out last year 24-12.

All the teams that traveled played well and represented the NSFFL at the highest level with 3 teams reaching the Championship game and one team winning the whole thing. The combined record of the teams was a well earned 11-6, however more importantly the kids had a great time and made a good account for themselves on and off the field.
