West Roxbury High Youth Flag Football Tournament

This past Sunday the NSFFL league organized 2 teams to travel to West Roxbury High school to participate in a youth flag football tournament. There were two two divisions offered, U12 and U14 and the league entered one team in each division. At the end of the day both teams reached the Championship game and the 12-14 all-stars won the title, which makes it their 4th Championship in the last 4 tournaments dating back to December 08.

In the U12 division 4 teams competed, 2 teams were from Pelham, NH, the other team from Plymouth, MA and finally our NHFFL ALL-Stars made up of players from Salem, Lynn and Peabody. The team played 4 games with only 5 players and finished with a 2-2 record losing to the same team twice. In the first game the NSFFL Patriots defeated Plmouth Pride 22-12 before losing out to the Red Storm, NH 20-7. In the third game the Patriots beat out the NH Demons 23-6 to advance to the Championship game where they lost out 31-0.

Everyone should be proud of the way the 5 boys from the North Shore played, it was their first ever time playing together and with no reserves and every player played every play!!!! Congratulations for reaching the final and representing the league well as we look forward to the NFL regional qualifiers this coming fall.

In the U14 division there was only the NSFFL all-stars and the Plymouth Pride so both teams played a best of 5 series. In the first game the All-stars with a few new additions got of to a slow start but over came their initial difficulties to put up a 27-0 victory. The second game the All-stars gave up their first TD's of the tournament but managed to put up 36 points to win the game 36-12. In the last game the Plymouth Pride came out firing with everything to play for, but the All-stars were too strong as they won the Championship game 36-21.

Congratulations to the U14 team with players from Peabody, Lynn, Beverly and Revere for winning the Championship. There were 5 new players that joined the team for the tournament and looking for a permamnent spot on the team as we head towards the regional qualifiers in October.
