Pride of Peabody!

4 teams from Peabody made the trip south to Waterbury, CT to take part in the annual regional qualifier organized by the NFL. This past year there were 12 qualifiers all across the USA and a total of 36 teams advanced to the National Championships held at Disney's wide world of Sports complex.

There were three age categories available (9-11 co-ed, 12-14 boys,12-14 girls) and Peabody was represented in every category. In the 9-11 co-ed division, the Peabody Dallas Cowboys were coached by Ed Lomasney, in the 12-14 boys category the Peabody Tanners were coached by Sarah Tanner and the Peabody All-Stars were coached by Shane Rigney and last but not least the 12-14 girls all-stars were coached by Austin Bradshaw and Dan Williams.

This years regional qualifier was a great experience for everyone, Peabody teams combined record on the day was 10-5, the 9-11 Cowboys made it to the semi-finals and lost to the eventual tournament winners, the 12-14 Tanners finished with a #1 seed,

received a bye to the semi-final and just came up short, the girls were one win away from reaching the finals and lost to the eventual winners, after beating them in pool play. Every team displayed great sportsmanship, class and played extremely well, and represented Peabody at the highest level. A coach from another team e-mailed us to let us know his feelings about our Peabody Teams as he stated"I played your Cowboy's team in the semifinal. The coaches were class acts and your players always show great sportsmanship. It's a pleasure to get to play your teams".

The overall experience not just the tournament was a great one, as some teams travelled down the night before, stayed in nice hotels and went out for dinner. On the day of the tournament one family brought their RV and had a cook out for all the players and parents, i cant say enough about the efforts put forward by the coaches, the parents and the players, everyone did their part to make the event a successful  one on many levels. We didnt send anyone to Disney this year but our reputation as a league, an organization and a family is growing stronger and stronger, next year we hope to send more teams to compete for the ultimate prize in NFL Youth Flag Football, the Nationals!!!
