NH Sportsplex
"Spring Fling" tournament
Last weekend players
from Peabody, Salem, Lynn and Beverly got a head start on their
flag football season as they traveled north to Bedford, NH. The
NH Sportsplex "Spring Fling" tournament had 10 teams compete in
a 9-11 division and 12-14 division round robin style tournament.
The North Shore Flag Football league sent 4 teams to compete
against the local NH teams. "
In the 12-14 division Peabody and Beverly joined forces to make
one team and the formula worked well as they won their first
game 21-12 against the NHFFL Blitz, however the team lost the
next 2 games which earned them a #3 seed.
The Peabody Tanners only entered the tournament with 5 players
due to last minute problems but they manged to hold it together
throughout the tournament. In the first game the Tanners lost
24-6 to the NHFFL Blaze but bounced back with a 22-0 win over
the NHFFL Blitz and then another win over the Beverly/Peabody
combination. After receiveing a #2 seed the Tanners had to play
the Beverly/Peabody team again to get into the finals, they
managed to repeat the earlier performance and won the game 22-6
which sent them into the finals to face the #1 NHFFL Blaze. The
team played their best football of the day and managed to win a
close 19-14 game to be crowned "Spring fling" champions.
The league would like to thank the NHFFL and the NH sportsplex
for organizing the tournament in a great facility. We would also
like to thank all the coaches and parents that made the trip
with the kids and giving them a chance to play some tournament
style flag football!!! Keep an eye on the tournaments section
for new tournaments in and around New England. |
