Revere League Champions

The second season in Revere had 6 teams playing flag football every Sunday morning on the turf fields at the high school. The 5-8 division only had 2 teams but both coaches had coached in the inaugural season of the league and made sure every kid had fun every week. The Patriots defeated the younger Giants every week during the season but the Giants kept coming back for more, motivated by their coach and a will to win. The first week of the season the young Giants struggled on both sides of the ball unsure and unfamiliar with the game, but by the end of the season the coach had them playing flag football like pros, running reverses, blitzes and passing the ball to open receivers. The Patriots were consistent all year with both the running and passing attack and proved to be too much for the Giants, the Pats went on to compete in the Championship series and narrowly lost out to the Beverly Chargers 30-27.

In the 9-12 division you could never have predicted the outcome, during the season the Steelers were the most dominant team after finishing with a perfect 5-0 record, while the Rams finished bottom of the pile with just one win all season. The rampant Raiders with the #1 offense finished 3-2 and the Chargers in 3rd place with a 1-4 record. Its not the regular season that defines a team its the play-offs and you can ask coaches from all across the league, it doesnt matter what your final record is you still have to play the game and anything can happen in the playoffs. In the 9-12 Revere play-offs the #2 Raiders defeated the #3 Chargers but the #4 Rams upset the #1 Steelers on the last play of the game to win 24-18. In the Superbowl the last place Rams with their last place defense kept their streak going and managed to cause another upset by beating the Raiders 46-20 ending their season with three wins in a row.

It was another great season in Revere and we will be hoping for another great season in the spring of 2010. Word of mouth has the biggest influence on parents and whether to sign their son up for NFL Flag football, so if your son or daughter played and had fun, please help the league by spreading the word.
Have a nice holidays and see you next year.
